Theories
We review a number of physical theories that have profound implications for human
freedom, specifically a number of controversial theories that deny the existence of a
collapse of the quantum-mechanical wave function, which is the ultimate source of
chance,
indeterminism,
free will, and
creativity.
These theories share a dislike of
indeterminism that grew from
Albert Einstein's famous dictum "God does not play dice." He also objected, perhaps even more strongly, to the
non-local character of quantum reality, which suggested that "influences" were traveling faster than the speed of light, violating his theory of special relativity.
